Pho tographers who use either a manual or digital SLR camera can enhance their images by using lens filters. There are several types of camera lens filters but four of those most commonly used are the graduated neutral density, polarizing, UV, and haze filters. Each is used for different effects on the final image. Graduated neutral density or split filters are handy for scenes with extremes of dark and light. Sunrises and sunsets are examples. In a sunrise, the sunlight on the horizon can overpower any clouds in the sky. The graduated neutral density filter allows less of the intense light to pass through that part of the filter. By using this filter, clouds in the sky are better defined. The second part of the filter brings out the details and colors in the foreground. Creating a painting that has depth makes the work more real and lifelike. Without depth you don't feel the subject matter is real or lifelike. There are specific things to do to create depth, here are some I use. First, when choosing subject matter and compositing I think of depth. I always choose to make the foreground part of the image a slightly bit bigger. If I am making a painting with flowers, I also choose one flower that will be larger than the other flowers in the portrait. If there are other flowers I make them smaller and off center. If there are leaves or twigs I think about where I place them so that the one foreground flower stands out to my eye. When I layout the drawing I usually create some similar items that I can place in the picture that become smaller and smaller as they recede in to the background. Live aquarium plants help to enhance the beauty of your aquarium. However, you need to place the right type of plants at the foreground and the background of the aquarium to achieve better aquarium decor.
